Itinerary:

Lets hike Island Ford yet again! We had such a good hike on Monday, I am posting another one of these. We'll do 6 miles this time, incorporating the lollipop trails and the ones by the mighty river. We'll stop occasionally for water breaks or to click a few pictures of the geese. This will be a moderately paced, rain or shine hike.

We will meet at the first parking lot NOT at the visitor center. There won't be any restrooms since the park office closes at 5 pm. You will need $3 cash for a daily pass if you do not have an annual pass. 

We will begin promptly at 5.45, so please arrive a few minutes early to pay for your pass and to check in. 


Required Items to Bring:

Appropriate clothing for the weather

3$ cash or annual park pass

Good hiking shoes

A flash light

How to Get There:

As described before we will meet at the very first parking lot NOT at the visitor center. 

From northbound US 19 and GA 400

  • Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
  • Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place. 
  • Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
  • Go 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.
  • Go 0.2 miles to the first parking area on your left (not at the visitor center).

From southbound US 19 and GA 400

  • Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
  • Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
  • Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
  • Go 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right
  • Go 0.2 miles to the first parking area (not at the visitor center).
