Itinerary:

We will meet at a Waffle House near Exit 51 off I 85 in Alabama. From there it is only 5 miles to Chewacla State Park. After parking by the shores of a lake created by a dam on Moore's Mill Creek, we will walk upstream for a little over a mile and then skip over some rocks to cross the creek. We will wend our way downstream for a while and then, getting deeper into the forest, we will cross over to Chewacla Creek, which we will follow downstream back to the lake. From there we will walk around the lake back to our starting point. The total length of this hike is about 4 miles and includes most of the park trails. For information on the park go to the following site:http://www.stateparks.com/chewacla_state_park_in_alabama.html

After a picnic lunch at the park we will drive a few miles East to Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve, where we will walk around 3.5 miles. For information on the preserve go to the following site: http://wp.auburn.edu/preserve/visit/.

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Starting time for the hike is Eastern Time (remember that Alabama is on Central Time).

If you are interested in participating on "The Back Trails of Pine Mountain" on Sunday, consider staying in Auburn overnight.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
