Itinerary:
You MUST bring your own boat (hardshell kayak or canoe, no inflatables), paddle, Coast Guard approved PFD to participate in this event....unless you borrow mine...

You MUST be prepared with appropriate backcountry camping gear that will fit in your boat.

Location: Lake Tugalo, GA (not to be confused with Lake Tugaloo/Hartwell) is a Georgia Power lake and was formed by the damming of the Tallulah and Chattooga Rivers.  The 597 acre lake with 18 miles of shoreline is entirely undeveloped!  Two remote access points exist, one on the South Carolina shoreline the other on the Georgia side.  The lake has a 20 hp motor restriction making it a flatwater paddler's paradise.  The shoreline has a handful of remote scattered campsites..

Itinerary: Leaving the carpool by 7:30 am we will arrive at the lake between 10-11.  We will load our boats with all gear for camping (think backpacking out of your boat) and then paddle up the Chattooga arm of the lake and select a campsite.  Once we've set up camp we will have time to tour the rest of the lake taking pictures and perhaps enjoying a dip in the cool waters before returning to the campsite to prepare for dinner and the evening's festivities.  On Sunday morning we'll have breakfast, pack up and head back to the ramp.  I expect we will be back at the ramp by 2:00 pm and back to the carpool by 5 pm.

If your vehicle will carry more than 1 boat please bring necessary equipment to do so.

If you are interested in participating in this event (and are prepared with appropriate backpacking type gear that you can pack in a boat) but do not own or have access to a boat, I have a Wilderness Tsunami 14 that is perfect for this type of activity that I am willing to lend to a member - just email me if interested..
