Itinerary:

Let's hike Island Ford at a moderate and steady pace. We'll try to cover about 5 miles. The speed will be around 2.5 mph with very few rest breaks.

Temperatures will be around the 50s and it will be sunny, so it's the perfect time of day to be outdoors.

We will meet at the first parking lot NOT at the visitor center. Restrooms are available at the visitor center, so please plan for an additional few minutes if you'd like to use them before we start. You will need $3 cash for a daily pass if you do not have an annual pass. If you'd like to purchase an annual pass then you may obtain one from the visitor center.

We will begin promptly at 3 pm, so please arrive a few minutes early.

Good hiking shoes

How to Get There:

As described before we will meet at the very first parking lot NOT at the visitor center

From northbound US 19 and GA 400

  • Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
  • Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place. 
  • In 0.5 miles turn right onto Roberts Drive.
  • In 0.7 miles turn right into the park entrance.
  • In 0.2 miles turn left into the first parking area (not at the visitor center).

From southbound US 19 and GA 400

  • Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
  • Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
  • In 0.5 miles turn right onto Roberts Drive.
  • In 0.7 miles turn right into the park entrance.
  • In 0.2 miles turn left into the first parking area (not at the visitor center).
