Itinerary:

We want to do the Atlanta Beltline after dark and we are hoping to see a lot of holiday lights on business throughout the route. We also hope to peek in people's windows and see lots of lights and trees in apartments and townhomes along the way.  ;)

We'll meet at the 10th Street and Charles Allen Dr NE entrance of Piedmont Park. Our route will take us along the south side of Piedmont Park and we will link up with the Atlanta Beltline.

The total distance will be about 6 miles. We will walk the paved portion of the Eastside Trail on the Atlanta Beltline which takes us through Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park. This portion runs from 10th Street to Irwin Street and it is a 2.25 mile stretch that we'll be doing twice. It's paved and very populated the entire way.  We will do a down and back to the Krog St tunnel so this will add probably a little over a mile to the walk. We will stop for dinner at Irwin Street Market. We'll spend about 45 minutes here relaxing and eating with friends - maybe a few minutes longer if it's busy. There are several different options all under one roof. You can have a cup of coffee at Funky Monkey, soup/sandwich/salad at Picnic, breakfast fare at Hilda's or some ice cream or a sweet treat at Jakes.

Total hiking/walking distance is going to be about 6 miles but the terrain is basically flat. This is not a beginner's event. Please make sure you are able to keep a steady pace with us for 6+ miles. We also think this would not be very much fun it it's raining so if the chances of rain are high, we'll cancel.

Please be aware that we must stick together as a group. If you desire to do your own thing and not stick with the group, this is not the event for you. Please be sure to bring a flashlight. If you do chose to park in the parking lot at Park Tavern, we will walk right by your car on our way back. Otherwise my co-lead or I would be happy to walk you back to your car afterwards.

We will meet at the entrance to Piedmont Park after the sun has gone down. If you are not comfortable parking your car in that area and getting over the the Park after dark, then I do not advise signing up for this event.
