Itinerary:

We will be taking the trail over Kennesaw Mountain and Little Kennesaw Mountains to Burnt Hickory Road from the visitor center and then return back the same way over both mountains. Once back we will head right back out and do it all over again. Please note that you will only get credit for the event if you make both laps out and back.

This event is a little different than most in that the group may become spread out as everyone goes their own pace. I only ask that you be able to finish in 3-4 hours or less.  It is possible to do this walking quickly the entire way but it is possible that some people will choose to jog parts of the downhills and flat sections. I intend on walking quickly the entire way with my 30+ pound backpack for some training.

We will meet outside of the visitor center for sign-in.  Please allow time to find a parking space and to walk up to the visitor center, as the main parking lot may be full.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extenson.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain.  Take a left at the red-light onto Stilesboro Road and then a left into the visitor's center parking lot.

8) If the parking lot is full (which is probable):  Go back to Old 41 and take a left.  Drive until you come to another left, which is a new overflow parking lot for Kennesaw Mountain.

Notes:

Please arrive early enough to park in the overflow lot, which is a 5 to 10 minute walk away (see (8) in the directions section above).
