This hike from Amicalola falls to Len Foote Inn is a very popular hike. It is scenic and on clear days we can see Atlanta's skyline in the distance. It is always interesting to hike a place when the trees are without leaves as it presents views we ordinarily wouldn't see.

We will meet at the visitor center so that we can register. Then we will drive up to the parking lot at the top of the falls and park. Then we will proceed to take the Len Foote Inn trail for about 5 miles to the Inn. Here we will eat our lunches and take some pictures out by the overlook. The views are beautiful on a clear day.

The inn always has some delicious goodies, and hot coffee or hot chocolate on a cold day are always a welcome.

After lunch we will take the approach trail back to the parking lot. We will then take a short visit to the top of the falls and also to another overlook just a few meters from the parking lot. And of course if possible look for Atlanta's skyline.

We will take this hike at a moderate pace, not too fast but not leisurely either. Hiking is about good scenic views, good conversations and of course pictures! We want to keep the group together, so please do not plan to race on ahead.

The carpool will leave promptly at 7.30 am. If you are late you will have to drive by yourself, so print out necessary event directions and contact numbers of the trip leaders. We should be back at the carpool no later than 4 pm if we leave the park by 2:30.

There is a 5$ state fee per car at Amicalola state park unless you have an annual pass.

From the Mansell Park & Ride we will go north on Georgia 400 past the outlet Mall to GA 136. We will go past GA 53 and turn left on 136. Bear right on GA 183 to right on GA 52 to the park entrance. We will stop at the Visitors Center lot to register, then head up the hill to the upper lot and trailhead.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $41.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
