Itinerary:

Stone Mountain during Christmas is wonderful...let's enjoy the scenery and burn (a few) calories in the process!!

Come join us for a festive bike ride...and feel free to decorate both yourself and your bike. Let's meet at the Confederate visitor center at 6:20pm (please leave time to prep your bike beforehand...check your tires, etc.).  Once we've assembled we will start our 2 laps (5 miles each) around the mountain, at an easy pace, starting no later than 6:30.  During the ride, we'll tour the lights around Crossroads and the Plantation and other areas.  Afterwards (optional) we'll gather at Frontera Mex Grill in Stone Mountain for dinner.

There are a couple of fairly large hills on the ride, but our pace will be very modest... about 10 to 12 mph.  You can bring ANY type of bike, just be sure it's in good working order.  Also, you'll need a BASIC headlight and tail light, since we'll be riding until shortly after sunset.    These lights are available anywhere, including Walmart or Performance Bike.   I found some cool LED bike light strings and spoke lights on Amazon if you're looking for decoration ideas.

We'll plan on getting done the ride by 7:30 or so...but we might hop off the bikes to check out the Snow Mountain for a few minutes (which is why the end time says 8:00 pm), then possibly head to dinner for those interested.

Note: Entrance fee to park is $10, or $35 annually (see outside-the-park parking option below)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Directions:

From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East about 7 miles to Exit 8, Stone Mountain Park Entrance. After entering, road will fork at about 1 mile - turn right.  Continue to the Confederate Visitor center (the usual meeting spot for the Stone Mountain hikes).

If you would like to try the free public parking in Stone Mountain Village, from Hwy 78 take exit 5 and merge onto GA 10. Proceed 0.5 miles to the first exit. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so, past a gas station and a funeral parlor (both on your right). When you see City Hall turn left. There is a Marta park and ride on fourth street. From there it is a short walk on East Mountain Street to the west gate. Please note, it's about a 0.5 mile ride from the west gate to the Visitor Center

Notes:

Frontera Mex-Mex Grill is located at 5074 Hwy 78 Stone Mountain.
