Itinerary:
The Atlanta area is rich in history; let's get out there and enjoy one of Georgia's landmark battlefields; Allatoona Battlefield. The battle fought there on October 5, 1864 is rich both in myth and legend and is one of the most dramatic and tragic episodes of the Civil War. This easy level hike is perfect for enjoying an afternoon out with your favorite furry friend (yet having a dog is not required to come out and have fun hiking with friends). This is a 3.1 mile hike, stopping at key historic sites that relate to the battle events that took place there. Those who are looking for further hiking afterwards, we will only be a mile down the road from Red Top mountain***. If there is an interest, we can head over there after this hike and hike another trail.***Red Top has a $3 parking fee. This event will be cancelled if there is rain (muddy dogs make for muddy cars...the rest is a downward spiral)

Required Items to Bring:
Water/fluids enough for yourself and your dog Plastic bag for waste
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Snacks

How to Get There:
Event Directions:75 North to Exit 283 (Emerson Rd). Turn Rt at the top of the exit. You will be traveling 1.4 miles. Stay to the right of the road and cross over a set of railroad tracks and continue to the parking lot which will be on the left across the street from the Allatoona B&B.

Notes:
Please make sure you have water for your dog. This is a very easy hike but just like us, our pets need to stay hydrated. If you don't have a portable dog dish, I find using a quart size/gallon size ZipLock bag works well as a stand in bowl.
