Itinerary:
Join us on this 8 mile hike to see waterfalls on all 3 creeks at 'Three Forks'; that come together to form the Western Fork of the Chattooga River; a federally designated Wild and Scenic River corridor. After arriving at the trailhead, we walk on the easy rolling terrain several miles until getting the Chattooga 'Wild and Scenic' river corridor; where the scenery and adventure get intensely beautiful and rugged. Big Creek with its 3 waterfalls is my favorite waterfall hike in Georgia with added bonus of 2 other waterfalls in their respective gorges, on this hike. We'll hike to Overflow Falls first, a 15 foot rugged beauty of a waterfall; with a nice swimming hole beneath it.then we bushwack our way on old overgrown, forest service roads to Big Creek and the 'Three Forks' intersection. There is a nice waterfall at end of Big Creek there where will have lunch , or dipping in 1 of 2 rock jacuzzis and have a scenic lunchbreak under, near the falls. From here we will cross Overflow Creek to visit another nice waterfall on Holcomb Creek, some 20' high; before returning to the Big Creek trail, with its initial short but steep uphills to 2 more incresingly beautiful waterfalls on Big Creek; capped by a stunning, wild 3-tiered 50' beauty, in a deep gorge. . After the last waterfall we make out way out the relatively mellow uphill to easy road walk out to our cars.
