Itinerary:

Attention: At this point in time I plan to do the hike on Thursday afternoon. However, before you head out, please check the traffic and road conditions:

http://www.11alive.com/news/travel/traffic/default.aspx

Should you feel in any way uncomfortable to drive to Roswell, please stay home and don't drive.

So, here we go again: Come join me on the trails at Vickery Creek - Unit of the Chattahoochee NRA. Vickery Creek is one of my favorite areas at the Chattahoochee river. We will stop at the Dam and at the Roswell Mill Machine Shop. Not too difficult ... a few ups and downs, just like in real life :)

There are restrooms at this location.

Note: This hike is a rain or shine hike, i.e. dress appropriately. We will of course not hike if there are thunderstorms likely.

Some interesting facts about Vickery Creek:  Vickery Creek formed on the property of a mixed-blood Cherokee woman named Charlotte Vickery. She was forced to move west with the rest of the Cherokee Nation when Georgia removed them on a forced march known today as "The Trail of Tears".  The creek name, which settlers called "Big Creek," is her lasting legacy.

If you have any questions e-mail the Event Coordinator.
