Itinerary:

Let' start the weekend with a well deserved hike along the Chattahoochee river.

Island Ford Park in Sandy Springs, GA, is the location of the Chattahoochee River National Park Headquarters and Visitor Contact Station. It provides some nice trails, a canoe launch, and picnic areas.

We will start at the smaller, first parking lot and get warmed up hiking the 'lolly pop' trail first, which is the newer trail. This trail is about 3 miles long and takes us through the woods. It has some elevation and a few nice bridges. We will end up at the first parking lot and continue our hike on the more established 2 mile trail along the river. There are two small creeks to hop over, but don't worry, there are plenty of stepping stones. Most of the trail is fairly wide.

This is not a beginner hike. We will walk at a moderate to semi-fast pace and only stop at strategic points for water breaks and to regroup.

We will meet at the first parking lot to your left. Please be on time as we will start the hike promptly at 9:15 am.

Please be aware that the trails will be muddy and may be slippery in spots due to the snow and ice we've had.

2 dogs permitted.
