Itinerary:

What is Trail Magic, you ask...

Well basically it is an act of unexpected kindness. :-) Late March and early April is when the AT thru hikers start their journey. In our case, we'll be catching the NOBO's (northbounders heading to Maine) as they pass through Gooch Gap.

Our plan is simple... The TL's on this event are heading to Gooch Gap on Friday afternoon to start setting up camp, canopies, coolers, grills, and whatever else we think we need to suprise the AT hikers with goodies as they come through the gap on Saturday.  We'll be handing out food, fruits, snacks, drinks, and also doing things such as collecting their garbage, giving them rides if need be, and of course chatting with them if they wish to share their story. You are guaranteed to meet all sorts of interesting folks.

This is an overnight primitive camp trip.  There is no running water, no pit toilets, and no showers. You'll need to bring your own camping gear and food.

Please Note:

-That this is a Volunteer Event and we'll need your help to make it happen.  We are doing this for fun, but if you register, it means you are willing to "work" as a team to help with our first ever AOC trail Magic day!

-That we are NOT running a carpool, but will be sending out written directions and GPS coordinates.  You are encouraged to print the directions out before you go because a GPS is not always reliable in the mountains and on FS roads. This also means that your cell phone will more than likely not have signal either.

Required Items to Bring:

Think car camping... tent, sleeping bag, food, water, headlamp, camp chair

(If you need a larger list, just ask your TL's)

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

A good attitude and willingness to help make an AT thru hiker's day just a little happier. You'll have them at one bite size snicker bar, guaranteed. :)
