Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Established as a memorial to U.S. veterans, this park features a museum with aircraft (including a Boeing B-29A), armored vehicles, uniforms, weapons, medals and other items from the Revolutionary War through the Gulf War.  An 18-hole golf course and pro shop, along with 8,700-acre Lake Blackshear and proximity to I-75, make this one of Georgia’s most popular state parks.

Pioneer camping (aka car camping) is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, make new friends and still feel like you have all the comforts of home.  Bring all your comfy, luxury camping equipment to enjoy good times with new and old friends.

We will arrive Friday afternoon/evening (feel free to arrive anytime after 1pm), setup camp, cook up a good dinner and relax around the fire with fun conversation, stories and games. Music lovers are encouraged to bring their instruments. Saturday morning, we will have a nice breakfast, pack a picnic lunch, and head off for a moderate hike within the park, perhaps followed by the Pigs in the Park BBQ and Music Festival, which is an all day event with arts and craft vendors, multiple music stages, food and fun. Later, we will cook up a gourmet dinner and again relax around a roaring fire and enjoy the good company. Sunday, it is a light breakfast, and then pack for home. We should be out of there Sunday morning by 11am.

As with all of my trips, everyone pitches in to help cook and clean up afterwards.  To keep us organized, I will be e-mailing out a sign-up list for meals.  If you have a specific meal you would prefer to cook or clean-up for, please let me know in the notes section when you register for the trip.

Come on out and join us!!

*PLEASE NOTE: expect late nights carousing around the campfire, a little dog slobber, and an awesome weekend!
