Itinerary:

Let's hike Island ford at a moderate and steady pace for about 6 miles. Starting at the first parking lot we will hike the lollipop trail for the first half and then proceed towards the river and loop around to return to our cars. We will stop for very few rest breaks and try to keep moving for a good workout.

We will meet at the first parking lot NOT at the visitor center. Restrooms are available at the visitor center, so please plan for an additional few minutes if you'd like to use them before we start. You will need $3 cash for a daily pass if you do not have an annual pass.

As described before we will meet at the very first parking lot NOT at the visitor center.

From northbound US 19 and GA 400

Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
In 0.5 miles turn right onto Roberts Drive.
In 0.7 miles turn right into the park entrance.
In 0.2 miles turn left into the first parking area (not at the visitor center).

From southbound US 19 and GA 400

Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
In 0.5 miles turn right onto Roberts Drive.
In 0.7 miles turn right into the park entrance.
In 0.2 miles turn left into the first parking area (not at the visitor center).
