This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join us for a Sunday bike ride on the Alpharetta Big Creek Greenway.  We will start at the parking lot off of North Point Pkwy.  From there we head north to the end of the trail at Marconi Blvd.  After a short break we head back south to the starting point.

Along the way the trail is relatively flat making the ride easy and enjoyable.  The concrete path winds along Big Creek and is a green strip of the outdoors in the city.  The pace will be about 10 mph as we wind our way along the heavily wooded trail.  There are a couple of restroom/water fountain locations along the way if needed.

Road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes and comfort bikes are all suitable for this trail.  All are expected to have their bike in good enough shape for the ride; and a helmet is required.

1. From the GA- 400/ I-285 Interchange on Atlanta's north side take GA 400 North about 9 miles and exit toward your right at "Mansell Road" (Exit #8, about a mile north of the Holcomb Bridge Rd exits).
2. Turn right onto Mansell Rd and immediately bear left into the turn lane for North Pt Pkwy.
3. Turn left onto North Point Pkwy, go about 0.7 mile and look for the large Ethan Allen Furniture store on your right (soon after you pass  Encore Pkwy).
4. There's a small "Big Creek Greenway" sign here where you turn right into a small parking lot.  We will meet by the restroom building.  For a convenient zoomable map & satellite view of that precise meeting spot click on the above "Event Location" icon (the green & blue rectangle near the top of this article).
