Itinerary:

Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve, a 28 acre wildlife sanctuary hidden in the corner of Medlock Park neighborhood in Decatur.  Located in a floodplain, the park contains wetlands, mature trees and other diverse habitats which attract wildlife, including (but not limited to) beavers, foxes, and many species of birds.

The preserve contains several easy trails with almost no elevation gain.  This will be an easy Sunday morning stroll with numerous stops to examine plants, birds, wetlands and/or anything else interesting we run across.  I don't know the exact distance of the hike, but estimate it to be in the two mile range.  It should take one to two hours, depending on the amount of time we spend enjoying the scenery.

Because the trails traverse wetlands, we may have to walk through a few muddy areas.  Therefore, please wear footwear appropriate for such circumstances.

We will meet at the ball park of Medlock Park and will head to the Preserve.

(based on Clay's write up, thanks!)
