Itinerary:

We'll meet on the dock at the Red Top Mountain State Park boat ramp area on Lake Allatoona. From there we'll boat over to the Pine Mountain trail head, and hike to the summit via the short trail. We'll hike down (total hiking distance about three miles, with a fair amount of elevation), find a place to set up for our dinner picnic and swim and ski. We'll stay until after dark if the weather permits, and putt putt back to the boat ramp and dock around 10:30.

Bathrooms: There's a bathroom at the boat ramp/dock area.  There is no bathroom at the trail head or where we'll end up for swimming.

Note: Small donations for gas are welcome but not required.

You should know how to swim, or at least be very confortable in and around water.

Required Items to Bring:

Bring: Toilet paper, sunscreen, a towel, a warm shirt or jacket to wear after dark and after swimming, hat, sunglasses, hiking shoes, water, something to eat for dinner (I'll have a little grill we can cook on) and drink. Try to avoid glass bottles, please. $5.00 for parking per car.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

A trash bag for your trash and for doing about 5 minutes worth of volonteer clean-up at the swimming site.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From I-75 north, take exit# 285 (Red Top Mountain State Park Rd.). Turn right off the ramp, and wind around into the park. When you cross over the lake on the green truss bridge, the boat ramp area will be immediately on your left after the bridge. The dock is towards the back. BRING ABOUT $5.00 FOR PARKING.

I'm not setting up a carpool for this because I have to get there early to get the boat in the water, but if anyone wants to carpool, a good place to do it is the Park N Ride off of Chastain Road, near the BrandSmart store.
