WILDERNESS FIRST AID (WFA) CLASS

This course is taught by SOLO one of the most recognized names in the outdoor community.

This course is normally $200-$300 person plus your travel exspenses. The closest class offered is in North Carolina. SOLO is coming here to Atlanta for the AOC. This is a private class just for us and a great deal right here in our backyard.

This will be a 2 day course, times of the class are TBA.

WHO IS THE WFA FOR?
The WFA is the perfect course for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader who wants a basic level of first aid training for short trips with family, friends, and outdoor groups. It also meets the ACA guidelines.

WHAT IS TAUGHT?
The WFA is 16 hours long (two days), and focuses on the basic skills of: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies.

    FIELD GUIDE
    Students will receive a 100 page Field Guide to Wilderness First Aid. This is a full color textbook that covers the curriculum for WFA and AWFA. The book is lavishly illustrated with photos, drawing and diagrams to make learning easy.

    IS THERE AN EXAM?
    Yes. There is ongoing evaluation of practical skills, and there are written assessments throughout the course.

    DO I GET CERTIFIED?
    Yes. You will receive a SOLO WFA certification, which is good for two years.

    PLEASE NOTE: This course is open to TRIP LEADERS FIRST . Trip leaders will be given 1 week to sign up for this event. If the event is still open after 1 week NON Trip Leaders will be allowed to fill the remaining spots. If you are NOT a trip leader you may sign up for this event when it opens. You will be moved to the waitlist in the order you sign up until the 1 week mark. At that time if spots are available you will be moved back to the event list.

    PAYMENT IS DUE WHEN YOU SIGN UP BY PAY PAL ONLY.

    We have to give the SOLO instructor time to make travel arrangements. If you do not pay you will be dropped from the list NO EXCEPTIONS. I will be monitoring this.

    CANCELLATIONS
    If you sign up and have to cancel we will move people over in the order they signed up. If there is no one to move over then you will NOT be refunded your fee. If there is someone to take your spot then you will be reimbursed, minus the standard $5 cancellation fee. If we do not get 12 people your money is refunded in FULL.

    DIRECTIONS to the CHATTAHOOCHEE NATURE CENTER: From Roswell Road (U.S. 19): (Heading North from Atlanta or I-285). At the first traffic light after crossing the Chattahoochee River, turn left onto Azalea Drive. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Willeo Road. CNC is located one-half mile on the right.

    From GA 400 Northbound: Exit on Northridge (exit #6) and bear to the right, back over the expressway. Immediately after crossing over 400, turn right onto Dunwoody Place. Follow Dunwoody Place until it intersects with Roswell Road (1.2 miles). Turn right onto Roswell Road. At the first traffic light after crossing the Chattahoochee River, turn left onto Azalea Drive. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Willeo Road. CNC is located one-half mile on the right.

    From GA 400 Southbound: Exit Northridge Road (exit #6). At the top of the ramp is a traffic light. Travel straight through the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place. Follow Dunwoody Place until it intersects with Roswell Road (1.2 miles). Turn right onto Roswell Road. At the first traffic light after crossing the Chattahoochee River, turn left onto Azalea Drive. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Willeo Road. CNC is located one-half mile on the right.

    From Marietta and All Points West: Take Highway 120 (also called Marietta Highway or Upper Roswell Road) east toward the city of Roswell. Cross Johnson Ferry Road


    Notes:
    Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC:

         - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event.

         - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

         - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant.

         - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.

         - Read the event description carefully for additional information, and contact the trip leader(s) with any questions.


    * We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
