Itinerary:

Another Stretch of the Etowah that has not been an AOC event!  This stretch is moderate with shoals and cool running water.  No more than Class I water. It is just above the Dawson Forest Atlanta Tract near Dawsonville and downstream of the upper section previously visted on other events and depicted in the promotional collage.

The put-in is the highway 136 bridge and take-out will be at the beautiful Ramp and Park at Highway 9 at Dawsonville.  The County Park has a small pavilion and port-a-potty.

The water here is intimate and moderately moving so some paddling skills are necessary for this trip. I can help beginners but this is not a paddling class. Let's go have fun!

The trip will be rain or shine. Bring your own boat, paddle and PFD (life vest).  We will take a break along the way to eat so bring a yummy snack and plenty to drink.

After the paddle, a dinner stop may be made along the way home or not, depending on timing for everyone.

Meeting place will be the McDonald's/Ingles Parking Lot at the corner of Hwy 400 and Hwy 53 in Dawsonville just past the Outlet Mall. The address is

188 S 400 Center Lane
Dawsonville, GA 30534

Be at the lot by 9:30 am or call or text the trip leaders with your whereabouts!  If you send a text, please tell us who you are!

We can caravan to the put-in. Leave gear and a person or two and set the shuttle to the County Park.  Most cars will be left at the park. We'll ride back up in one or two vehicles to start the paddle.   Approximate time to be on the river is 10:30.

The paddle will last 4 to 5 hours and we will enjoy the sights and good water of the river!

Required notes:
Personal Preparedness and Responsibility:
