2 more 6,000' Peaks towards the Beyond 6000 goal.

We will leave Atlanta and head north to Newfound Gap on 441 in the Smoky Mountains National Park. From here we will head west along the AT. First we will cross over Mt. Collins on the way towards Clingman's Dome. It is 7.7 miles to the Clingman's Dome Observation Tower. After gaining both peaks we will turn south leaving the AT and using the clingman's dome trail or bypass trail, we will take this 1.2 miles to the Forney Ridge Trail. After another 1.5 miles we will encounter the Forney Creek Cascade and then our campsite about .3 miles farther on. Campsite 68.

Our total day mileage is approx 10.7 miles.

The next day we will retrace our route back to the car and Atlanta.

There is a water source at our campsite.
