Itinerary:

On Lake Allatoona, Red Top Mountain is always a nice place to hike. Part of the hike is into the woods and part of it is along the shore of the lake. I'm starting the hike early enough so we'll be finished before it gets too hot.

The hike begins on the 3/4 of a mile paved, handicapped accessible trail. There is an 1869 log cabin along this trail. From there we will cross the parking lot and hike the Homestead Trail and part of the Sweetgum Trail. Total mileage will be between 5 and 6 miles at a slow to moderate pace with one break by the lake. Feel free to jump in and cool off if you'd like.

I'll allow a few well behaved dogs as long as they remain on a leash.

Those who want to eat lunch in downtown Cartersville just a few minutes away can join us. There is the AOC popular SWheat Market Deli and a few other good restaurants in the area. Keep in mind if you bring your dog.
