Itinerary:

No excuses for NOT going on this hike.  This is the perfect hike for beginners who can't yet handle speed, distance, or elevation changes.   There is some slight rolling terrain, but we'll go at an easy pace, so it won't be difficult. We'll stop and rest as needed.

This Sandy Springs location is a hidden treasure right smack in the middle of a bustling neighborhood off of Roswell Road.  This trail is especially beautiful in the spring and summer, with lush vegetation and babbling brooks. Please be sure to apply insect repellant, as we won't be walking fast enough to keep ahead of mosquitos!

This is an excellent hike for folks who want to get into hiking for the first time, who want to simply get out and enjoy the beauty of nature and breathe some fresh air without exerting themselves, or who want to begin hiking again after an injury. The trail is soft and free of roots and rocks. Veteran hikers are certainly welcome to join us, but please don't complain about the slow speed!

We'll be starting the hike promptly at 10:30 am, so arrive about 10 minutes early to check in, meet your fellow members, and use the restroom.

There are several little trails at Big Tree Preserve, including  (1) the Backcountry Trail; (2) the Spring Hollow Trial; and (3) the Jackson Overlook Trail. All of these trails are for foot travel only and are easy to walk with no steep grades.  No runners or bikers allowed!

Dogs are welcome as long as they're kept on leash.  We'll allow up to 3 well-behaved dogs on this hike.  (Owners are expected to behave well, too!  :-)
