** PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A BYOB (BRING YOUR OWN BOAT) EVENT. **
Come paddle with us on one of the coolest sections of the Etowah River. Ok, well your TL's think it's cool. :-) We'll put in below the Allatoona Dam, drop gear/boats, run a car shuttle and at the end of the day take out at Eurharlee Bridge. Plan for roughly 17 miles of paddle and play time. Let's just say this will be a long day, so plan accordingly. We'll paddle by and play in some pretty cool sites along this section of the Etowah. - You'll see stone pilings early on in the trip, which are what is left of the Western and Atlantic Rail Road bridge that was burned and rebuilt over 6 times. - We'll portage around the Thompson Wienman dam that was used for electrical generation in the early 1900's. After the portage, we'll stop and play if the water is not too high. :) - You'll see numerous remnants of the old fishing weirs in the river. Plan to swim/play in a few of the rapids. :) - We are going to be stopping at the Etowah Indian Mounds. Plan to explore there too. :) - We'll stop to play in the "hot tub" near Plant Bowen before paddling on to the Euharlee bridge take out.
It will be super FUN day on the river!
