Itinerary:
Come out and enjoy a day of rolling fun and games sailing on Lake Lanier. While this event pays tribute to the contributions of the Seven "Celtic" Nations to our maritime history, it is designed to be a great, fun day on and off the water.

Be prepared to decorate your ship, dress in kilts - if'n you got 'em AND brave enough to wear 'em, engage in song and dance, ward off "Celtic" Pirates, engage in water cannon fights, rescue the Leprechaun Overboard and consume vast amounts of Celtic food and DRINK!!! Also, we have a few of the local Celtic bands playing in the evening.

Schedule of Event

9:45 AM AOC group gathers at Skippers Meeting location (below) to sign waivers.
10:00 AM SKIPPERS MEETING at Aqualand Ship’s Store parking lot, Flowery Branch, Georgia After meeting and boat assignment, see Steve Peters for map to Sunrise Marina if you assigned boat is located there.
12:00 PM Event Courses in Chattahoochee Bay near “X” mark on Lake Lanier
12:00 Blessing of the fleet
12:30 Parade of ships!
13:00 Celtic Crossing begins (Staggered start according to PHRF rating)
16:00 All boats should be off the course and participants relocating to the food and DRINK at the Aqualand Pavilion.

On Shore activities will be at the Pavilion at Aqualand starting no earlier than 4:00 PM. Direction will be available at the Skipper’s Meeting.

Some sailing experience helpful but not necessary.

Required Items to Bring:
Sailing gloves (most workout/biking gloves will do)
non-colored bottom soft-soled shoes so as not to mark up the boats (test on your kitchen floor if it doesn’t leave a mark, should be ok);
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Sunglasses and sunscreen
A change of clothes for when you get wet!
Sandwiches, munchies, beverages for on the water.

- Take 85 North
- Take 985 North
- Exit #8 at Friendship Rd. – Cumming: Turn Left - Approx 2 miles Turn Right onto McEver (4-lane intersection – will turn into 2)
- Drive to the second traffic light you will see a sign for Aqualand on the left
- Turn Left at that traffic light which is Lights Ferry
- Drive to the guard hut and tell him you are sailing with Barefoot Sailing Club
- Take the second “paved” left (or your first intersection) and the ship store will be on your right.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $20.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC:

     - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event.

     - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

     - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant.

     - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.

     - Read the event description carefully for additional information, and contact the trip leader(s) with any questions.
