Itinerary:

Formerly the Amelia Earhart Day Hike but we all lost out on that celebration due to weather like Amelia...

Now to celebrate International Tiger day!  Just to put it out there this is my first solo lead hike! So we will hike like Tigers!!

Gold Branch is a nice, moderate hike with some elevation and beautiful views of the river & lake area. If there has been some recent rain there may be muddy or wet spots.  I will do a few loops and stop for a few water breaks but the pace will be moderate.

We will start the hike promptly at 6:00 pm, so please arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow time to buy a $3 parking pass and meet your fellow hikers. There are no bathroom facilities at this location, so make a stop on your way to the park (there's a MacDonald's on Lower Roswell as you turn off Johnson Ferry) A new entrance marquis has been erected for the park,

More Tiger Day Info & there will be a Tiger prize!!

International Tiger Day is held annualy on July 29 to give worldwide attention to the reservation of tigers. It is both an awareness day as a celebration. It was founded at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in 2010. This was done because at that moment wild tigers were too close to extinction. Many animal welfare organisations pledged to help these wonderful creatures and are still helping to raise funds to reach this goal. The goal of Tiger Day is to promote the protection and expansion of the wilde tigers habitats and to gain support through awareness for tiger conservation.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Gold Branch is on Lower Roswell Road, between Johnson Ferry Road and Wileo Road.  The sign is now visible from the road since bushes have been trimmed during road expansion;  however, the park entrance is between residential subdivisions and is easy to miss if you're not watching for it.  If you're coming from Johnson Ferry Road, it's on the right, about 2 miles from Johnson Ferry.  If you're coming from Wileo, it's also a couple of miles, but on your left.  If you're following Azalea Drive and turn left onto Wileo, be aware that Wileo becomes Lower Roswell Road when it does a 90 degree left turn.  The park is .6 miles past the roundabout once it becomes Lower Roswell Road - - on your left. Remember, it's very easy to pass right by it, so slow down and look for the little turn-off !
