I haven't done this hike in awhile, so it might be a little exploratory.

There is a stream on the way back to cool your feet off on a hot day.

This is a beautiful hike in the scenic Prentice Cooper State Forest just North West of Chattanooga.

The majority of the hike will run along the Tennessee river Gorge, with views of the river & Raccoon Mountain.

Our 1st stop will be Snooper's Rock with beautiful views of the river & gorge. 3 miles in we will come to another overlook & a natural rock bridge. You can climb carefully down under the bridge to take pictures. We will stop at a couple more overlooks including Ransom Hollow Overlook pictured above.

The rest of the hike will take us up & down hills & along a stream.

We may stop on the way home for dinner, depending on what everyone wants to do.

While this hike is rated D4 because there are not steep, continuous inclines, it does have rolling hills to climb. It would be a good hike for those wishing to transition to D5 hikes.

75 North from Chastain

After entering Tennessee merge onto I- 24 West toward Chattanooga

Take the Rt Us 27 North exit

Exit onto US 127 North / Signal Mountain Blvd.

Turn Left at TN 27 / Suck Creek Rd. (you will see the railroad crossing)

Drive 8 miles & turn Left at the Prentice Cooper State Forest Sign

Follow the signs for the forest area. (Left, Left, Left)

Once you reach the gravel road drive 6 miles

You will see a trail map sign & small parking area on your left.

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver.
