Itinerary:

Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is one of the fastest growing sports. It is easy to learn and a lot of fun.

We will paddle, float down the lower Taccoa River.   We'll start at the Blue Ridge Lake dam and go down river 6 or 7 miles to the take out point.  This is flowing flat water, i.e. no rapids.  There are a couple of waves people can surf if they want to.  It is easy to navigate around the waves.

This section of the river is very pretty, lots of wild flowers and wooded areas.  There are also some interesting houses on the river front.

This is a very relaxing and fun paddle.

PLAN B - There is no guarantee that the dam gates will be open that day.  The TVA does not post an advanced schedule.  However, they have been releasing on the weekends for recreational purposes.

If the gates are not open, we will paddle an upper section of Blue Ridge Lake.  We'll paddle up river to some shoals, turn around and paddle back.  There will be lots of opportunity to get wet and cool off.  If you are a little adventurous, there is a rope swing on top of a rock out cropping.  We can jump or swing off the rocks into the water.

Optionally after we paddle, we can eat together in Blue Ridge or a restaurant directly on the toccoa river.
