this area has an average altitude of between 5000-6000+ feet. It can and does get cold at night. The weather can change quickly. It’s not uncommon to be in or above the clouds up there. There are many treeless summits and balds, and the winds can be very strong sometimes (I have been there many times with winds around 40-50mph., and once with winds around 70-80mph. there is always at least a good breeze. This is why a wind stable tent is a requirement. I will be inspecting members gear to insure it is proper for this trip. If members are interested but don’t have the proper gear it can be rented.
