Itinerary:

This part of the Bartram Trail just may be one of the prettiest hikes in Georgia!  It truly is a beautiful section to hike, and the payoff is tremendous - - a swim in the Chattooga River at Dick's Creek Falls!  The hike starts at Earl's Ford on the Chattooga River and follows down river, sometimes away from the water and other times with a grand view of the river.

We'll hike about 4 miles to Dick's Creek Falls, where we'll have a relaxing lunch and get into our swim clothes for a fun swim and look up at the falls from the water.

When we've soaked up enough sun and water,  we'll backtrack the trail upstream to return to our cars, affording ourselves a chance to dry off before packing up for the trip home. Although they're not necessary, you might want to bring along a pair of water sandals for maneuvering the river, and a small hand-towel for drying your feet so that you can put your socks and hiking boots back on when we finish our swim. A change of clothes might not be a bad idea either, in case you haven't completely dried off during our return hike.

Be sure to bring a bag for your wet clothes and dirty boots.  Just as we like to leave the trails better than we found them, we want to respect the cars and drivers that carried us to and from our adventure!

We'll carpool from Indian Trail Park and Ride to the Burger King in Clayton, GA where we'll stop for a restroom break and a bite to eat before taking off for the trail head.  We'll travel along Warwoman Road to Earl's Ford Road, where we'll pick up the trail at the river.

We plan to finish the hike by 3pm to be back in Atlanta around 5pm.
