Itinerary:

This hike explores the Bartram Trail in North Carolina. I have done parts of this trail, but we will approach it with an exploratory nature.

From the parking lot at Osage Overlook the trail rises 1100 ft. in the 1st 2 miles. We will stop on the way at an overlook & then continue climbing to the top of Scaly mountain which has lots great views of the surrounding mountains. The trail then starts a descent into the Tessentee Valley. We will stop for a break at a campsite with a stream.

Then we can return or explore some of the rocky areas further along the trail.

If you are marked as Meet At Event, please meet us at the Ingles in Clayton at 9:30. Do not meet us at the trail head.

From Indian Trail travel I-85 North To I-985.

Continue on GA-365/US-23 N toward Clayton.

Just past Dillard turn Right onto State Rte 106 toward Highlands, NC

This road turns into NC-246 W when you enter NC.

Stay on this road for approximately 5 miles, You will see a parking area for the Bartram Trail & Osage Overlook on your right.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $84.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
