Itinerary:

Hope you can join us for a first-ever AOC event: a Clue Town scavenger hunt in Piedmont Park, followed by a brisk walk along the Eastside Beltline. Let's make the most of this gorgeous fall weather and solve some puzzles to help us learn more about the history and landmarks of Piedmont Park. Then we can enjoy the art exhibits along the Eastside Beltline and have some lunch together.

We will leave promptly at 10:00 a.m. from the 14th Street gate in Piedmont Park.  This gate can be found at the intersection of 14th Street and Piedmont Avenue.  Please give yourself plenty of time to get here, especially if you are not familiar with the neighborhood.

There is paid parking on Piedmont nearby, or you can take your chances with Park Atlanta and park on one of the side streets. (I do not advise this option, but if you do use it, please pay careful attention to signs and parking meters.  Those tickets are not cheap.)  If you take MARTA to the park, the closest station is Arts Center.  Google Maps is great at telling you how to find things via MARTA. I usually look for free parking on 10th Street or Charles Allen, but pay attention to the signs on Charles Allen as you must park south of 8th Street so as not to get a very expensive ticket. Then allow time to walk to the 14th Street gate.

We will start our adventure by following clues found in our Clue Town book to complete a series of puzzles which will reveal directions to complete our quest. Along the way we will relish the sights and sounds of Piedmont Park.

Then we will cut through the "active oval" of the park, cross Clara Meer lake, skirt the meadow and hop onto the future Beltline section which will lead us over to the paved Eastside Trail.  We will walk the Eastside Trail until it ends at Irwin Street, then amble a couple blocks over to Auburn Avenue to savor a tasty lunch at Lotta Frutta.

After enjoying lunch at Lotta Frutta, we will make our way back to the Beltline Trail, retrace our route, and reenter Piedmont Park on the 10th Street side. We'll take a different way through the park to return to our starting point at the 14th Street gate.

The total distance will be approximately 7 miles.
