This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join us for a scenic afternoon ride on the Stone Mountain Trail.

We will begin at the parking lot at the Carter Center. We'll ride 16 miles each way (32 total miles) from the Carter Center to Stone Mountain Park at a 10 to 12 mph modest pace. We'll ride through Candler Park, Decatur, Avondale Estates, Clarkston, then will turn around at Stone Mountain Village and Park after a short break.

For the majority of the time you do not need to contend with cars.  That said, you will have some sections where you will be on the road.  These roads are typically not very crowded on the weekends, but, just in cae, you need to be prepared for traffic and be comfortable riding on the road.  This is NOT the Silver Comet. Additionally there are many intersections which the Path Trail intersects the road.

Note: This ride will have 1 or 2 stops and we will also be traveling on open roads for about 3 miles each way, so we will be staying together as a group during the ride. All riders are expected to obey all traffic laws while participating. Also there are rest rooms at Stone Mountain Park, but facilities along the route are limited.
