Itinerary:

The second of my planned waterfalls hikes will take us to the Upper and Lower Whitewater falls in North Carolina. This is an intermediate 10 mile hike.

Starting at the Upper Whitewater Falls overlook, we'll begin a steep descent to the Whitewater River. This is around 600 feet in just over half a mile, so be prepared.  After that we'll cross over the Whitewater River and follow it to the Lower falls in approx 5 miles.

We'll head back after a short viewing of the falls.  The way  back is just the same except for the ascent at the end - remember the trail heading down will now be a vertical climb of 500+ feet in about a half mile.  The overall elevation is rather flat after the initial descent and ending ascent.
