Itinerary:

This is a 12 mile in-and-out hike starting at Rock Gap and following the AT south to the summit of Albert Mountain. From the fire tower on Albert Mountain there is a magnificent view. Elevation gain is aproximately 1,500 ft.

Pace will be moderate, slower on steep sections and brisk where terrain allows. If you like to hike fast, we can split the group and Jasmine will lead the fast hiker group. Fast hikers can add a side trip to the John Wasilik Memorial Poplar, the second-largest poplar in the East (now no longer alive), for an additional 1.4 miles.

Dogs must be on leash at all times and not interfere with other hikers or dogs.

Note:  The trip leader may contact you to determine your fitness level. The trip leader reserves the right to remove anyone from the list who they feel cannot handle this trip.

Be prepared for winter temperatures. Hike may be rescheduled if severe winter weather is expected.
