Itinerary:

So, is your family in another city/state/country/planet, and you don’t feel like leaving town? Or, maybe Christmas just isn’t your thing. Either way, if you find yourself needing a little fresh air and some dirt under your feet, join me and my furbaby Vegas for a nice little Christmas hike.

We’ll meet at the parking lot for the dog park at Leita Thompson Memorial Park on Hwy 92 at 11:00. If you’re feeling festive, feel free to wear your favorite tacky Christmas sweater, Santa hat, antlers, etc., so it’s easy for us to find each other.

I’ll allow five well-socialized dogs in addition to mine, as long as you clean up after your furbaby and keep him/her leashed at all times (in accordance of park rules.)

The trails at Leita range from flat to gently rolling with a few short but steep(ish) hills. We’ll hike a leisurely-moderate pace of 2.5-3 mph. If we go faster than that, it’s probably because I fell down at the top of the steepest hill. Ouch.

Once we reach the starting point of our hike (about 3.5 miles), we’ll either turn around and hike back the opposite way to double our miles, OR hunger will win and we can make our way to Tasty China for some Sichuan goodness. If you plan to go to Tasty China, I recommend bringing cash (for a potential discount) and (if you like) beer/wine. They don’t sell alcohol, but they do let you bring your own. If you need a bottle opener/corkscrew or want a fancy glass, be sure to bring it. If this will be your first time there, please be prepared to wait a bit for service. See earlier comment about beer/wine.

Happy Holidays! I hope to see you there!
