Itinerary:
40 + river crossings. At places, we’ll be fording the River in waist deep water. You will get wet! Store all clothes and gear in waterproof stuff sacks.

We won’t be hiking at a blistering pace, but we will be getting up early and putting in some medium distances each day! YOU MUST BE IN GOOD SHAPE TO ATTEND and follow safety instructions. Total mileage is around 17 miles in 3 days of backpacking. Options for side hikes when we reach camps.

Friday – 3 hour Drive to Daly Gap, drop hikers and arrange car shuttle. Backpack 7 miles to first campsite at Jacks River.

Saturday - Hike/backpack 4 miles to second campsite on Jack’s river.

Sunday – Hike/Backpack 6 miles to end

We’ll get home late on Sunday night. Another 3 hours drive back.

You MUST have someone else who can attest to your skill level, if you haven’t hiked with me. THERE ARE NO OUTS ON THIS TRAIL. Any injury puts you 8-10 hours or more away from a hospital. Safety is incredibly important.

Required Items to Bring:
come fully prepared to be self sufficient with everything you'll need. Trekking poles are necessary for the river crossings. waterproof stuff sacks for all your clothes, and sleeping bag. Also refer to the Event Checklists for additional ideas.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:I -75 to US 411 North, to right on Old Highway 2 in Cisco, next to the Cisco Baptist Church. Old Highway 2 is AKA FS 16. Continue on FS 16 (follow the pavement unti it ends; stay to the right at the fork; pass Hopewell Church; cross the Conasauga River; continue straight ahead where FS 51 turns right) for approx 8.7 miles to the suspension bridge over the Jacks River. The jacks River Trail parking lot is to the right across the river in Tennessee.

Retrace back on FS 16 and turn left onto FS 17. follow FS 17 past Lake Conasauga to a sharp left on FS 68. FS 68 goes goes straight and turns into FS 64 at Potato Patch Mtn. FS 64 turns left near Dyer Gap. FS 64 hits a 4 way intersection at Watson Gap. Go straight. The road turns into FS 22 to the Daly Gap Parking lot.

From Daly Gap, go south on FS 22 to a left on Old Ga 2. Old Ga 2 takes you to a right on GA 5 to I-75.

It's a good idea to pick up a Chattahoochee National Forest Map.
