We'll be slowing it down a bit for this hike at Vickery Creek. It won't be a fast hike, but rather a steady moderately paced trek through Vickery Creek. Although the pace will be moderate, the hills in the area can be challenging for newcomers. If you haven't done any hikes with the club, I may call you to be sure you're not getting in over your head on this one.

We'll be starting the hike promptly at 10:30, so please arrive 10 minutes early so that we can get started on time.

The Vickery Creek section of the Chattahooche National Recreation Area contains many miles of interconnected hiking trails. Our plan is to hike about fou-and-a-half milesof these trails which include some sections of rocks and roots as well as some easy-to-maneuver sections.

This hike is dedicated to Susan F., who will (hopefully) be hitting her 400th AOC event today! That's a lot of hiking, including many difficult D5 hikes! Congratulations on this fine achievement, Susan.

We are starting and parking on Oxbo Road. The lot is ON Oxbo Rd. (Not the lot in the Waller extention area.) It is free to park at this location! Directions below.

We will meet at the Oxbo parking lot on Oxbo Road, off of Route 9/120, Atlanta Street, Roswell GA. There is a gas station on the corner of Atlanta Street and Oxbo where you have to turn. The lot is on your right about 1/2 mile down the road.

Notes:

Sorry - - no restroom facilities at this entrance. If you have enough time, you can use the Roswell Mill entrance bathroom before driving on to Oxbo Road.
