Itinerary:

The Big Tree Forest Preserve is a nice 1.2-mile nature trail in the Sandy Springs community. The trail is a mulch and dirt trail with mild slopes. Many rocks along the stream that parallels the hiking trail add to the wonderful landscapes at Big Trees.

This nature trail is a perfect trail for beginning hikers and those who just want a leisurely hike. Sunday morning, the weather is expected to be in the 30s and cloudy early in the morning. However, later in the day there is a chance of showers with temperatures reaching the upper 50s by mid-day. With this in mind, we will want start our 3-mile hike promptly at 9:00 am, so that we will complete our hike by 10:00. Since this is a small trail, we will move at a moderate pace and loop the trail a couple of times to complete our three-mile hike before the rain.

Keep in mind, there is a chance of rain in the forcast, but it is for later in the day. In the event that it rains during the time scheduled for our event, I am still planning to lead the hike for those who do not mind a few drops of rain. I look forward to hiking with everyone!
