Write Up:

We have five brave hikers and two excited dogs who decided to venture out on our hike up Blood Mountain.  We began the hike with the expectation of rain and the possibility of thunder.  To our surprise, we had neither.  Instead, we found pleasant temperatures, a bit of humidity and tons of mud.  We started the hike out with some uphills to get our heart pumping but when we turned onto the Freeman Trail we had a break.  The Freeman Trail did provide lots of boulders and running streams to venture thru.  Next we turned back onto the AT to battle the 1,000 foot ascent up to Blood Mountain.  At the Shelter we ran into a group of boy scouts out for the weekend and several AT thru hikers, although, we never did catch up with one of the AT hiker’s wife, Tortoise.   After leaving the shelter we made our way back to the cars on a pleasant downhill hike.   We all ended up with happy faces, muddy boots (or paws) and dry packs.
