Write Up:
Unlike most outdoor hikes, this route carries you down Atlanta's Peachtree Street corridor from Chamblee to the Capitol and on to Turner field. From Turner Filed, it's a straight shot up Capitol Ave which turns into Piedmont, follow Piedmont to Buckhead and a right turn on Piedmont back to the start in Chamblee. The presence of all the Marta Train Stations is reassuring as a "bail out" point if you get tired. Fortunately for us, we didn't need to bailout and take the train. Anita ended up walking 17 miles and ended up 5 blocks from her house. She walked home. I made it back to Chamblee. For old timers, like myself, many parts of Atlanta have changed and are changing. Many of the old favorite places have been torn down to make room for new mixed use retail/residential developments. Walking along Peachtree brings all the changes into focus because you have time to look at everything and realize how much has changed. Great trip, good companionship, pleasant weather. This is a good trip for anyone wanting to test their limits in a safe "bail out" scenario. If you time it right, you can have lunch at the Varsity. Scott
