Write Up:

Yesterday was a great day to be out on the water. We had 15 paddlers, 13 solo kayaks, 1 tandem kayak, and one canoe. I'm grateful that I was the only one winding up in the drink!  For me, and some of the others, it was a great experience building trip.  I  learned to not sit in the back in rapids when canoeing solo : )  We explored the banks and found several muskrats, a water fowl roost located in the top of a pine tree, turtles, gar fish, Queen Ann’s Lace, and even some jumping homo sapiens [an odd sight indeed, we believe they were juveniles venturing out of their normal habitat in the mall : )].  The water level was higher than normal and allowed us to venture up some side creeks and side channels not normally accessible.  The NOC is a well run organization.  They rented boats to us, met us at the end with helpers in the water so that no one missed the Paces Mill take out.  One of their staff rescued some of my stuff after I overturned because I  tried a little too hard retrieve a giant deflated green frog float tube left behind by someone on the river bank.  Thanks to the guys in our group for helping dump water out of my boat.  The NOC shuttle is great and such a nice service for the Hooch.  I  hope to do this one again soon.  Here’s a movie of our day:  https://goo.gl/photos/dWpSscL1sZoRtVNK8
