Write Up:

What a memorable and "hauntingly beautiful" way to spend the afternoon together!  We AOC ghouls, goblins and ghosts had a blast exploring the huge Victorian era botanical garden that happens to double as the oldest and most famous cemetery in Atlanta.  Conveniently it's directly across the street from the site of our Oct Social that we enjoyed a couple of hours later at Tin Lizzy's Cantina.
In "scavenger-hunt" style we helped each other find the golf-ball-topped grave of Bobby Jones, the family plot of author Margaret Mitchell, the tomb of mayor Maynard Jackson and the fascinating "Sleeping Lion" confederate memorial statue near the tombs of hundreds of Civil War soldiers.
We "topped off" our hike by walking a short distance southward via Cherokee Ave across I-20 to Grant Park, where we enjoyed exploring several of its shady trails and meadows.
A big pat on the back to Stacey for proposing and co-leading this highly appropriate outdoor prelude to our equally enjoyable "Halloween Social."  She and her volunteer "elves" pulled off that event to perfection on Tin Lizzy's upper deck where they treated us a fun Horror Movie trivia contest and a Mummy Wrapping contest - complete with lots of nice prizes!
