Write Up:
We arrived at Amicalola a little after 10 am. We all met up in front of the visitor center and did our best to stay warm in the chilly winter morning weather. We started out in an icy chill in the mid 30s. Thankfully, Rob suggested we wait in the sunshine until everyone had their bathroom breaks. We headed up Creek Trail and turned off on Mountain Laurel Loop. We turned off on the Spring Trail and went straight up hill until we reached the West Ridge Falls Access. After catching our breath, we headed to the base of the falls. We enjoyed the beautiful view before heading up the stairs to the Top of the Falls. After taking in the mountain views, we headed back down the Appalachian Trail Approach. Thankful to have warmed up during our hike, we enjoyed the winter wilderness and enjoyed the company of our hiking friends.
