Write Up:
Those attending were Mary Dedrick, Kimberly Abrams, Duane Billue and Don Norton (leader) We meet at 7:00 to over cast skyies but we were determened to go hiking. We arrived at the parking lot at Springer Mountain at 9:00am to a sprinkling of rain but not to be turned back up Springer we went. The higher we went the less rain we got by the time we got to the top of Springer it had stopped. After we signed the trail register we went back to the Benton MacKaye Trail. The rain had gone for the most part, we followed the BMT until in intersected with the Appalachian Trail where we turned to go to the Stover Creek Shelter for lunch. After lunch we headed to Long Creek Falls what a sight I don't think I have seen so much water coming over the falls. We oohed ahhed for a while and the rains came it was time to move on. The rains did not last long. We went back on the Appalachian Trail to it intersected the BMT. We turned on the BMT for about 1 1/2 miles until it intersected the Appalachian Trail and then it started to rain again heavy but we were close to the parking and and our car by then. The rain did not last about 30 minutes so no one got really wet. It was a great hike even under threating skies. If you missed this one you missed a great hike. See you on the trail soon.
