Write Up:
It was a spectacular day - started out at the carpool with rain coming in sideways with Tornatic winds prevailing! We headed north and the storm went south. Started the hike with cool air ( even cooler when in a cold sink) and a cobalt blue sky. We had a good pulse for the start. This 23 mile loop gave us no major climbs, few Rock outcrops, ridges with views and a number of full streams. Albert & Standing Indian gave STUNNING views!! Around ever switchback we were greeted with north wind in our face. We really could not have planned this anymore perfectly. This is hands down my favorite area for hiking. The southern Nantahal Wilderness is rich forest with old timber growth. If you stay quiet they will talk to you ,ask some of our hikers 🐻.We have some great up and comers who are achieving new grounds ( Steve T & Walley). We finished our hike with a well earned meal in Clayton's very own Universal Joint ( best tater tots ever ).
