Write Up:

Another great day of hiking at East Palisades.  The focus of this one was spending time on some unofficial trails in the park which present a whole different feel than the more established trails.  We spend the first 45 minutes walking trails to the east of the Indian Trail parking lot.  Then we headed out past the Whitewater parking lot all the way to I-75.

Then we wandered along the river headed upstream which was interesting as the river was so high and moving so fast.  Next a climb up to the observation deck where we took a well deserved break.  One more descent down toward the river before diverting out on an old abandoned woods road which takes you to the site of what appears to be an old rock quarry.  We returned toward the cars by taking a trail along a very pretty creek and then a short road walk on the park access road before reaching our cars.  Our hike covered about 5.5 miles in a little short of the planned 2.5 hours hike.

A special welcome to Dennis S. who was on his 4th AOC hike.   ~ Holt
