Write Up:Starting the morning with a detailed briefing, we proceeded north on Pigeon Hill trail
only
to be greeted by a Blue - Gray Gnatcatcher. We stopped for a gander only to see what
all the fuss was about. When we got permission to pass....the Mountain greeted us with
winds from the east! We kept a tight line on the climbs, I could hear the chatter of the
hikers all the way up to Big Kennesaw! Instead of gasping for air they were finding their
next story to tell. I met a lot of new faces on this level of hike, maybe I'll try a D-2 next
hike? Watch out guys there may be a new sheriff in town!! (Still evolving as a TL) I think
we all had a great morning. It was good to see Vera back from healing and Ankita is
moving up her levels. I also want to welcome Ron Martinez to the club. Next week
Southern Nantahala Wilderness. ( land of the noon day sun)
