Write Up:

A wonderful group of folks got together to kick off 2020 with an invigorating tour through Cochran Shoals and Sope Creek. The temperature was chilly as we started, but jackets soon came off after the first few hilly ascents. With a brilliant blue sky above our hats and squishy mud underneath our boots, we knocked off the miles with ease. Sunglasses shielded the sensitive eyes of those who may have indulged in some midnight revelry on the last evening of 2019.

We were treated to the sight of several majestic deer right at the start. Conversation flowed, bubbly as last night's champagne toasts. We made way for several runners and dodged a few cyclists. Our entire group remained collision-free, well-trained to leap to the side at the sound of "Biker up!" or "Runner back!" Everyone we met seemed to be in a good mood with salutations of "Happy New Year!" to all.

We paused at the old paper mill ruins to admire the winter views across the creek. Heading back to our starting point, we finished exactly on time. We parted ways with resolutions to do it again soon. ~ Lisa
