Write Up:

As predicted, the creek was too high to cross with dry feet, (thanks for testing it Greg), so we got a great tour of the east flood plain, and Marina led two tree embraces of large oaks. The biggest one looks to be over 200 years old, but I'm guessing. We saw many shallow intrenchments next to the airstrip and through out the woods. I'm not sure if I pointed them out to everyone. They are too shallow to protect much from rifle fire, and I don't know any civil war history that took place in the park. More to learn!

Several people were happy to experience the PATH, and learn that it goes 6 miles to GA State campus, and to hear about Constitution Lakes and the Dolls Head Trail. Maybe we can schedule some events around these resources.

Thanks for joining us in this tour of a park-in-progress. I hope in 5-10 years it will have signed trails, no trash, and a nice bridge. Only with help from dedicated outdoors people will that happen, just like the Chattahoochee NRA.

I was glad that Agnes let me know it's convenient for her in Stockbridge, as I think this greenspace is valuable for Clayton County as well as Dekalb and south Fulton. ~ Allen
